While adoption creates loving families and provides children with a secure, nurturing environment, there can also be areas of difficulty which can be unique to adoptive family life. But the people who understand these challenges – adoptive families and adopted people, researchers and professionals – rarely come together to share their knowledge and experience, to learn from each other and explore ideas about what could help.
Bridging Perspectives
Bridging Perspectives is a project which connects people who know about adoption. In this unique, collaborative space – a digital roundtable – experiences, expertise and research are shared and valued equally, with complete anonymity and at a time to suit you. No travelling to meetings, workshops or conferences. No interviews or surveys. And most importantly, no criticism or judgement of views or ideas. Just collaboration and sharing amongst equals in a safe space – exploring solutions together to some of the challenges that adoption can bring.

We cannot build better support systems without working together and learning from each other. If you are a researcher your results and recommendations are important. If you are a practitioner, your knowledge and experience of working with families is invaluable. And, if you are part of an adoptive family, or are an adopted person, your voice is essential. Sharing your views, knowledge and experience will take just a few minutes of your time.

The project will start in September 2026.
